What a day! Our third Original Bridal Swap was our biggest and most successful yet! We had almost 1000 attendees come through the doors.
Brides to Be came from all over hunting for wedding decor, special wedding finds and of course their wedding dress.
Past Brides who were selling their items brought so many wonderful things from glassware, linens, and frames to cupcake tiers and stands and so much more. We were thrilled with the amount and quality of the things that Past Brides brought to sell.
One of the best parts of the day for us was to see the excitement of the Brides who found their decor at a great deal and better yet, found their perfect dress at a steal of a price. One Bride that we talked to found a stunning Ramona Keveza wedding dress that normally sells for $4000 and bought it for $1200! She was ecstatic about it. Not only did she get a great deal, but it was one of the consignment dresses that had never been worn!
We heard lots of stories like this throughout the day and that’s partly what makes this event so rewarding for us.
Here’s an email that we received from one of the lucky Brides to Be that found her dress at the event:
I attended your bridal swap yesterday – it was a great idea and a good event. I did manage to find my wedding dress there, which was great. If you hold it again next year I’m going to recommend it to anyone I know who’s getting married.
I went specifically because I wanted a used/sample wedding dress, so I was hoping you could pass on my thanks to one of the women who were helping out in the change room. I didn’t get her name and she was an enormous help getting me in and out of dresses-please pass on my thanks to all of the ladies and tell them that the woman who got the va-va-voom dress and is getting married in Italy gives her sincere thanks for all the assistance.
One of our Past Brides that attended a couple years ago as a Bride to Be came back to sell her items this year:
Thank you. Yesterday was such so much fun! I found my dress at the Swap in 2011 and was fortunate enough to pass it on to a girl who I know will love it as much as I did.
The Original Bridal Swap is held every Spring so Past Brides can come sell their wedding items and dresses and recoup some money to put back in their pockets AND Brides to Be can come and hunt for their wedding treasures. This event is lots of fun for everyone involved.
We are proud that The Original Bridal Swap is an Eco-friendly event which is part of our contribution to Vancouver’s sustainability.
And on top of that, as part of our giving back to the community we donate part of our proceeds to Streetohome which is an organization that is working with big business, local organizations and the government to solve Vancouver’s homeless problem.
